It is Election time, we are going home

The other day I called my mother at home to find out what’s happening in the local political landscape in our otherwise borderless and harmonious locality. She reported to me who were nominated how and why, and went on to add what she thinks about the outcome of the D-Day. “Do you think I should come home five years later to participate in the local elections?” I asked her; of course it was accompanied by my all time high sense of humor. “Oh! You want to be humiliated before the villagers?” was what I got in reply, which was followed by a series of explanations and concerns. “Only then, think of participating.” She went on tell me how it was unfair for the villagers to have some alien and all promising leaders dropping out of nowhere during the election time. “Where is our choice?” Election talk is here once again. This time it is about the long overdue local government elections in the country. ECB officials and other stakeholders are already busy preparing for the elections. Wit

Shaving off Tobacco Act

Those days I used to simply pull them out with my bare hands and for the same reason I usually had to maintain my fingernails long. But I think it is the best and inexpensive affair to pull out and pull out all. And more importantly, it does better work and the effect is for anyone to see. Our forefathers and their forefathers weren’t that stupid you see. In absence of fancy modern implements, they made it do with their hands. For the last 26 years I thought I was okay without it too and I don’t know how I landed up being its victim. And I think the crazy affair began with a warning that it is harmful and destructive to our eyes, the effect of pulling. But it has been almost a few years that my alternate morning depended on it. Some of my friends claim to do it almost every day. The more I shave it, the more my moustache grows.  Now you see that gives me extra work added to my normal everyday duties. It means extra expense towards buying new shavers and all those fancy modern creams

A tsunami of some sort

The recent tsunami in Japan that claimed more than 12,000 lives and many reported to be still missing, was a true testimony of how nature can bring in total destruction and create human mayhem. Thousands are rendered homeless. March 11, 2011 will remain forever etched in our hearts and minds. As we watch the devastating scenes helplessly, it is a strong reminder to us how impermanent our lives can get. On behalf of my fellow Bhutanese citizens and on mine own, I would like to take this opportunity to convey my condolences to the friendly people of Japan. We hope and pray that the families and loved ones of the tsunami victims find needed courage and strength to move on. We send our prayers and good wishes to the brave people of the “land of the rising sun”. The monstrous earthquake and the consequent tsunami showed us how even a highly well prepared and equipped country still becomes vulnerable to natural destruction and consequent chaos. But sometimes watching the flashing scenes o

Which "About us" is which?

Sometimes searching different websites is very useful. This morning I was browsing and I was really confused which one is which. The following pictures will tell you what I mean. Please look closely and spot the difference between this "About us" from that "About us":

Call it Confusions and Complexities

There are many ways and means to start something afresh and new for every day is a new day and that we have to have new and renewed hopes and zeal to perform over and above the normal duties of a regular man in pursuit of happiness combined with satisfaction only to know that systematically he is nowhere at sight of perfection personified per se, which is nothing but disillusions, far from ground reality of our being, that is which we have been living with under constant threat of materialism, not having done our part to the betterment of this humanity for which we are all responsible, which in essence should and must be our higher goals of life in modern age of living, however little do we know that our life which we cling to so much is nothing far from being impermanent, ready to dismantle anytime soon; therefore it is our higher duty to make this life of ours more meaningful and having to something merited for the next birth in consonance with our future generations, for generations
